อ้างถึงFATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE เป็นการนำเกมภาคที่สองของซีรีส์ Fatal Frame ที่เคยเปิดตัวครั้งแรกในปี 2003 กลับมาสร้างใหม่ทั้งหมด โดยเกมนี้จะบอกเล่าเรื่องราวการผจญภัยของสองพี่น้องฝาแฝด Mio และ Mayu Amakura ที่หลงเข้าไปในหมู่บ้านร้างสุดหลอนซึ่งเต็มไปด้วยวิญญาณอาฆาต พวกเธอต้องใช้ Camera Obscura กล้องโบราณที่มีความสามารถในการจับภาพและผนึกวิญญาณ เพื่อต่อสู้กับเหล่าภูตผี และไขปริศนาสุดสยองที่ซ่อนอยู่ในหมู่บ้านแห่งนี้

ในเวอร์ชันรีเมกนี้ ตัวเกมได้รับการยกเครื่องใหม่ทั้งหมด ทั้งในส่วนของภาพกราฟิก, เสียง และระบบการเล่น รวมถึงการควบคุม โดยยังคงเอกลักษณ์ของเกมไว้ด้วยระบบ Camera Obscura ซึ่งเป็นหัวใจสำคัญในการต่อสู้กับวิญญาณ แต่ปรับปรุงให้การเล่นมีความเข้มข้นและน่าติดตามมากขึ้น ทั้งในส่วนของการสำรวจและการต่อสู้

นอกจากนี้ ยังมีการเพิ่มระบบใหม่ที่เรียกว่า "Holding Hands with Mayu" เข้ามา เพื่อให้ผู้เล่นได้สัมผัสถึงความผูกพันอันลึกซึ้งระหว่างสองพี่น้องได้อย่างที่ไม่เคยมีมาก่อน ทำให้เรื่องราวมีความซาบซึ้งและน่าประทับใจยิ่งขึ้น
